What is in the log, and what is left out

The printable fire inspection log and the phone log use the same core fields: place, date, note, and the last annual maintenance date. Emergency lights have their own test dates, and the waitlist version does not use barcodes or tag printing.

Fields on each unit

Each unit in Fire Inspection Log is set up for a simple reminder record: where it is, the date, a note, and the last annual maintenance date. That keeps the log focused on the basics you need when you are tracking portable fire extinguishers, without adding extra steps or an account. For a quick overview of the app, see features, or compare the idea with the rest of the site on compare.

OSHA says workplace portable extinguishers are kept fully charged and operable, and in their designated places, except while they are in use. Where OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157 applies, portable fire extinguishers get a monthly visual inspection, which is why the reminder log centers on repeat checks rather than one-time setup. For a related reminder view, see monthly checklist.

Emergency lights

Emergency lights get their own separate record so they do not get mixed in with extinguisher notes. The planned fields include the light entry itself and the dates you use for testing, which makes it easier to keep those reminders organized alongside the extinguisher list. If you want the companion page, look at emergency light log.

This keeps the log simple: one place for extinguishers, one place for emergency lights, and the same style of note taking for both. The goal is to help you keep track of what was checked and when, without turning the page into a long form or a complicated workflow.

Left out on purpose

The waitlist version does not scan barcodes, use NFC, or require a photo. It also does not print tags, and it does not add an account for v1. Those items are left out so the first version stays focused on the reminder log and the fields already listed on the page.

That means the experience stays straightforward: select the unit, add the date, add a note, and save the reminder entry. If you are looking for a system that leans on extra hardware or tag workflows, this is not that version.

Print a reminder from the site

If you want a printable fire inspection log, the page is meant to support a clean reminder view you can print from your browser. The printable idea and the phone log use the same fields, so the paper version stays aligned with what you track in the app. For the main product overview, go to features.

The point is to keep the record easy to read at a glance: unit, date, note, and the maintenance or test date that belongs to that item. The site does not turn this into a complex form, and it does not add equipment scanning or tag printing in v1.

This is a reminder log, not an inspection and not code compliance. Not a substitute for a licensed fire protection inspection. Rules differ by workplace and by the fire code your local authority uses. Fire Inspection Log is not part of OSHA, NFPA, or any fire marshal office.
